Our Green Schools Committee work very hard to ensure the school keep these flags.
In 2023, Scoil Mhuire won the Global Citizenship Energy Regional Award. We were the Southern Winners (competing with primary schools from Kilkenny, Wexford, Waterford, Tipperary, Cork, Kerry and Limerick).

Green Schools News
We are currently beginning a 2 year cycle of activities to obtain our next Green School Flag:
Global Citizenship- Marine Environment
The children will be become more aware of the plants and animals that live in our oceans, the importance of the marine environment, marine litter and how we can protect the marine environment.
Picker Pals Programme:
First class is participating in the Picker Pals Programme, which motivates and equips children with “Picker Packs”, containing everything children need to go litter-picking. Using upcycled and fully reusable packaging, the Picker Pals programme provides the class with bespoke story and activity books in both Irish and English, and picker-uppers which are taken home by a different child every week. Each child goes on a litter-picking adventure in their local area with their family and reports back to their classmates on their activity. The programme also uses songs to help spread the message about tackling litter in a fun and upbeat manner to motivate children to get involved in this important social and environmental issue.
SeaKeepers Project
Children from 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th are participating in the Seakeepers project where the children in theses classes will learn about six Irish marine species throughout the school year.
