This year Scoil Mhuire we decided to go for a new flag - The Active Flay. This required us to hold an active week from April 25th - 29th. Our excellent committee did fantastic work thinking up ideas and organisng active week.
The week began with a walk to the pitch on Monday, we all walked up together and did a big lap of the pitch. When wee came back down the teachers led the morning warm - up . Different teachers led the warm-up every morning, it was great fun! That afternoon the committee gave an excellent presentation to all the classes, telling them about what was planned for active week.
On Tuesday morning Michelle Lucy came to do gymnastics with us. We learnt how to do forward rolls, cartwheels and handstands! In the afternoon Shirley Lankford came and we played a variety of really fun games with her.
On Wednesday afternoon there was a football blitz organised for 3rd - 6th class. We all went up to the pitch and the teachers refereed the matches. AS it was a fun blitz no scores were taken, we all had a great time taking part.
Thursday was a super busy day! Tracy came back to do some Zumba dance moves with us. We also had tennis with Michael Russell, our tennis skills are really improving now! that evening there was a healthy taster session in school. We tried all sorts of yummy healthy food including fruit smoothies, healthy pizzas, a variety of fruits and some yummy healthy dips.
We finished off our week on Friday by having an awards ceremony, everyone got a lovely cert for taking part in our first Active School week.
The week was a great success that was thoroughly enjoyed by all!!!
